Robotic Process Automation (RPA): Saving Money and Improving Processes | Formtek Blog| 0

By Dick Weisinger

Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is a software process that runs on the same client computers where existing software interfaces also run, and the RPA robot software can simulate the interactions that a human would make with the existing software application interface. For example, previous frequent repetitive tasks where users would need to search for data, or copy data between applications, or input data, all can be automated.

Tony Abel, managing director at Protiviti , said that “Executives are finding that investments in RPA can produce a multitude of benefits. In as little as two years, those companies we’ve identified as leaders will be using bots in virtually every function within their organizations. Today, RPA is a lynchpin of sleek and agile operations that will fortify companies’ market positions by driving efficiencies, boosting speed to market and bolstering financial performance.”

A survey by Provoti asked businesses the main motivators they see for adopting RPA. The results included:

  • Increased Productivity (22 percent)
  • Better Product Quality (16 percent)
  • Competitive Market position (15 percent)
  • Customer Satisfaction (12 percent)
  • Speed to market (11 percent)

Marisa Schmader, assistant commissioner at the Treasury Department, said that “for RPA, it’s how can we save money and make the processes better. We’ve implemented things that you may not see or experience. Things that are repetitive like resetting passwords or sending reminders about passwords. It’s the things that have a lot of rigor around them that we are transitioning to a bot. Customers will have no way to tell, but it’s saving us money.”
